Mark Victor Trappett's Animation Mentor Demo Reel
Thank you for taking a look at my Animation Reel created from my work completed at Animation Mentor.
I have always been crazy about animation since I was a kid. I grew up in England watching everything I could including all the Disney 2D classics at the cinema such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio, The Aristocats, Peter Pan, and the TV series classics such as Fred Quimby's Tom and Jerry, Warner Brothers Loony Tunes including Bugs Bunny, The Silly Symphonies, ... the list seems to go on forever. More recently I have been absorbed into CG with the new classics from Pixar, Dreamworks, and Industrial Light and Magic to name just a few. Here is my reel breakdown:
- All animation, set layouts, and ideas by Mark Trappett.
- Bishop biped rig supplied by Animation Mentor.
- Goat model rigged, skinned and weighted by Mark Trappett.
- All other 3D models downloaded from Turbosquid and imported into Maya.
- Scenes lit and rendered by Mark Trappett.
- Software tools used to create my reel includes, Maya, Combustion, Premiere Pro, Quicktime Pro, and PhotoShop.
This was my first attempt at any kind of quadraped animal animation, and in the future I am going to re-do the goat character. I did bite off much more than I could chew during my studies, but I did learn a HUGE amount from all the mentors at AM, and fellow students.
Please contact me if you have any questions, comments, feedback, etc. I would be happy to hear from you!
Mark Victor Trappett's Animation Mentor Short Film - "Chivo!"
This is my short story "Chivo" that I created while studying at Animation Mentor.
My story came from a real-life situation that happened a couple of years ago. My wife had a pet Pygmy goat called Oscar. The car was my pride-and-joy. The rest is recorded posthumously, in my short movie!
As a side-note, please realize that this is a work in progress, which has currently taken around nine months so far. There are a ton of things still to fix and re-do. I am currently in the process of polishing each of the scenes. I am somewhat of a perfectionist, so this will likely take some time... quite some time :-)
My next door neighbor after telling him what had happened to my car, said that he would likely have cooked Oscar on the barbeque to make chivo (goat meat) burritos.
I created all the animation you see in the Chivo movie. I built the custom textures for the car, Bishop, and the props such as the carrot. I created and added the skydome to the set. I added the lighting, and rendered the entire movie myself. The rendering took many days it total. The majority of the music and sound effects were marked as free for any use, public domain. The remainder of the sound effects I created myself. The car mesh was a bought model in .OBJ format, although the chrome, and texture UV mapping I created in Maya. The after effects were created my myself in Combustion.
The software used in my short included, Maya, Premier, Photoshop, Combustion, Sorenson, Audigy, and FlipBook for the animatic.
